The First Gretna Guyz Beach Retreat was a huge success. We had 15 young men from ages 13 to 19 that attended. We has a wonderful time exporing God's desire to offer forgiveness into each of our lives and to then pour such forgiveness out to those that have hurt us. The boys were also able to play basketball, eat baskets full of seafood, swim, and then even managed to catch more than 75 fish off of the beach - all things that few of them had ever done before. We wanted to especially thank each of the KUMC members that generously allowed us to borrow their sleeping bags and mattresses, as we could not have housed all of the boys otherwise. We have placed all such items within the Volunteer Office in Asbury and ask that they be picked up there. We did our best to ensure that all loose items were bound together but please doublecheck that you have pumps, bags, etc when you collect them. God is good ALL of the time!!!

The Mission Committee recently held their annual retreat in Apalachicola on January 13-15. The retreat provides an opportunity for prayer and planning away from member's daily commitments. The Mission Committee meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month and everyone is invited to attend.

The purpose of the Missions Committee at Killearn UMC is to foster and facilitate the Lord’s work locally, nationally, and internationally, with the help of caring and compassionate members of our congregation. God has blessed the committee over the years with hard working people who love the Lord and are committed to His purpose. Our Committee is open to all within KUMC and we would welcome your involvement. We meet the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Asbury Building.
The Missions Committee of Killearn is the service outreach arm of the church. It is the committee through which faith and deeds merge. Through the planning efforts of this group of dedicated servants of Christ, the KUMC community of believers is afforded the opportunity to minister to those of lesser means. Mission work is everyone’s work, and this committee is by no means the only way Killearn reaches out to the mission field. Many smaller and very effective efforts of mission are carried out daily by individual members, Sunday school classes, and other organized service groups within the church.
The work of the Missions Committee is to create within every member of Killearn a “mission mentality” where mission work is not viewed as a series of events, but a constant attitude of service to fellow man. The Missions Committee is a vital part of Christ’s ministry on this earth and through this group each member of KUMC is provided the opportunity to become the “living presence of Christ” in someone’s life.
