The Ogden'sThe Ogden Family: Missionaries in Asia

A letter to KUMC from Mark Ogden

Are you a native English speaker? Then, your skills are needed to touch the lives of this East Asian country’s influencers.   Come alongside long-term workers plus national believers to share the Good News with young professionals, university and high school students.  They have an amazing fascination with Western Culture including a very positive view of Christianity, especially Christmas.   The people you interact with have been educated in atheism, but are so curious and open to hear your faith journey.  You will be treated like Bobby Bowden walking around Tallahassee!!   As you demonstrate the love of Christ, you will have many opportunities to develop lifelong friends.   You can also use your professional skills to meet with professional men and women of the same background in company tours or even professional seminars.

You will be a part of intensive English camps and university English discussion groups.   The Ogdens and local friends will take you to see the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and other sites in our city (30 minutes from the Capital by bullet train).   You will have eager new friends translate for you at restaurants and want to spend as much free time with you as you have time.   Regardless of the time of the year, come help introduce a typical Christmas party (even in July) and a clear Gospel presentation.

A highlight of the trip will be to visit an underground Bible school run by a man jailed over 20 times for his faith.  Come help these future house church leaders learn English and encourage them to persevere in their faith.   We are usually the ones most encouraged through these visits.
